GSHP Spring Meeting 2020-Cancelled

After thoughtful consideration, the GSHP leadership has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel our GSHP Spring Meeting that was set to take place March 27-29 at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront hotel. We have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving information and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as state and local governments, related to COVID-19. Based on this guidance and travel advisories and restrictions for healthcare providers, it is clear that cancelling our meeting is the most responsible course of action at this point. We are disappointed that we will not be able to have this opportunity for education and networking that we all look forward to at each of our meetings, but it is clear that our top priority must now shift to the healthcare we provide our patients across the state.

If you made a hotel room reservation through the GSHP room block at the Marriott, your room reservation will be automatically cancelled by the Marriott.  If you made your room reservation through another method other than the GSHP Marriott portal, then you will need to cancel your own reservation.

In addition, GSHP has made the decision to cancel all district meetings scheduled for the remainder of the month of March.

GSHP Board Approves Fellowship Program (FGSHP)

Fellowship in the Georgia Society of Health‐System Pharmacists (GSHP) recognizes members who have demonstrated excellence in the practice of health‐system pharmacy. Fellowship is awarded to acknowledge members who have made significant and sustained contributions to GSHP and the profession. Fellowship status is a lifelong designation for the individual as long as they are an active member of GSHP.

Applications will be accepted when the award application process begins later this year.

The pillars of the Strategic Plan includes:

• Advance the profession of pharmacy through advocacy efforts

• Promote and foster excellence in pharmacy health‐system practice

• Strengthen partnerships that serve the profession through collaborations across the state and beyond

• Increase and maintain a diverse membership

• Oversee and manage organizational infrastructure to ensure a viable future
